Top 3 Korean Drama I decided to Watch in 2016 : Descendants of The Sun
It has been a while since I watched my first korean drama, My Girlfriend is Gumiho which air in 2010 (I watched the drama in new year of 2014 holiday). Actually, I watched other drama too before, like the famous endless love (back when I was in Manokwari) or Green Rose, and the famous Boys Before Flowers but that mostly because of my sister influence. MGIG is the first drama I intended to watch since the female lead, shin min ah, were so damn beautiful in that drama (those white dress!).
2016 is year of turmoil. So, as for runaway, I need something refreshing. I tried all things from running small business (I considered it as quite success), watching all movies that I abandoned for years (I dont really a movie goer), and watching korean show like drama, variety show (all time favorite is running man!). Thus, I found out that watching korean drama is so much addictive, but yet fun to release stress.
Korean drama that appear in 2016 were full of stars, I mean like there are a lot good drama to watch. But indeed I have limited amount of time and energy to watch all of those. So, I only watch 3 drama that I consider as a worth to watch during 2016. Here are the 3 drama I watched.
1. Descendants of The Sun (Dots)
Starring Song Joong Ki, Song Hye Kyo, Jin Goo, and Kim Ji Won, was perhaps the biggest Korean drama hit of 2016. Captain Yoo Shi Jin are loved by entire South Korea, China, and all over Asia. For those who haven't yet see the Drama, it is about a special forces soldier falling in love with a medical doctor, as they learn to appreciate each other profession and differences.
The drama evolves in pretty fast way, the 'date' between female and male lead even started at the very first episode. I could possibly accepted that the fact it is maybe the 30s year old people way about romance and relationship, all things are direct and clear unlike those who still in their late teenage or 20s. Dots is not like other smash hit korean drama seen before, it is not about some supernatural human that could travel the space, do telekinetics, or having something that really top secret. All the plot are really things I could see in daily life, as I also have seen my highschool friends, senior and junior are in the same condition the boyfriend is soldier (who went to military academy) and the girlfriend is a doctor.
Other drama are somehow evolves character which filthy rich, heir of giant company, or somehow even not human (but they look like human, obviously). Dots also have thing that is probably differents, it doesn't have constant threat both from a character or a 'mission impossible' things. Kang Mo Yoen didnt have that 'pull the sword' thing mission like in Goblin. This kind of plot give natural view and somehow give me a bit of feeling of what problem will happen next as if one problem are solved.
It is no wonder that Dots receive more than 40% of rating in its final run, a things that is really rare to see in modern day of internet and broadcasting. The plot was so 'all age' friendly, the cast was amazing, the filming site is good, the OST so damn great, and some other memorable line like "Should I apologize or should I confess?" which make this drama worth to watch.
***
I watched the drama in its schedule air time, which make me wait every wed and thursday.
